Finding His Grave

Caradog is buried in Trecynon Cemetery with his wife and son. His tombstone is a remarkable piece of carving, sat atop the hill, under a yew tree looking northeast towards the Beacons. Trecynon cemetery does not have records of individual graves on site, so we have provided a video on how to find the gravestone once you’re at the cemetery gates. You wont be disappointed.

Here is the map and directions on how to find the graveyard.

Please see right a map of the graveyard and a video on how to find his grave.  Also included on the map are a few other graves of notable residents. They’re well worth a look!

Directions from the centre of Aberdare to his grave.

1) From Victoria Square in the centre of Aberdare, head west along Victoria Square on the A4233 toward Monk St.

2) Continue to follow A4233. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Gadlys Rd (B4275).

3) Continue to follow B4275 for approximately one mile until you see the entrance to the graveyard on your right. It is immediately before a bus stop on the right.  Turn right through the gates and over the cattle grid.

(The entrance is not signposted, but if you reach Aberdare College on your left-hand side then you have gone to far.)
